Vacancy: Procurement Manager
Location: Durban
Start: December or January
Salary: R 40 000 – R 45 000 basic per month + a host of other benefits
 
Supervise and manage all procurement functions, ensuring the efficient and effective management of suppliers/service providers, extracting maximum value and providing for the procurement needs of the company.
 
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
    • Responsible for organising and maintaining a central facility for the purchase of all raw materials, packaging and finished goods, services and contracts on a best price / best quality basis
    • Ensuring the smooth supply of material, consumables and equipment to the company
    • Controlling the purchase and supply of all procured items and services
    • Implementing best practices on technologies, processes, policies, and procedures to support the purchasing process
    • Sourcing the most affordable materials for the company’s manufacturing process
    • Projecting stock levels and actively involved with sales forecasts
    • Giving sourcing input to colleagues to aid business planning and development
    • Establishing terms, pricing, quality requirements , delivery, and contracts with suppliers
    • Reviewing all contracts/agreements to achieve “best price/best quality “purchasing
    • Maintaining records of supplier contracts, agreements, goods ordered received
    • Regularly contacting suppliers to renegotiate prices
    • Sourcing and rate negotiation of new material locally and worldwide with proper incomers , delivery time and quality
    • Managing the procurement supplier relationships for the company
    • Continuously monitoring, evaluating, and improving supplier performance (monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annual)
    • Auditing suppliers based on ISO 9001, 14000 and 18 000 system
    • Building effective strategic supply chain partnerships
    • Providing and monitoring a budget and monthly cost control
    • Delivering cost savings for the company  
    • Benchmarking performance of the Supply Chain
    • Adhering to all company policies with particular regard to accounting principles
    • Adhering to and implementing Global Procurement Guidelines and policies
    • Making recommendations and advising senior management on all purchasing levels
    • Managing, Developing , and Improving the purchasing team of 4 people
    • Delegating projects and tasks to junior staff
    • Promoting best practices across the Company
    • Ensuring  ISO 9001, 14000 and 18 000 system is maintained
    • Management of other service providers at head Office including : maintenance, security, garden services and general services
 
Compliance
Ensure all statutory governmental regulations are complied with
 
Projects
Researching and installing new systems, designed for efficiencies and cost savings
 
Education and experience
    1. Matric
    2. Relevant tertiary qualification in procurement or business management
    3. 5 years working experience within a procurement environment
    4. 2-5 years managerial experience
    5. General knowledge of ERP systems – Axapta / SAP advantageous
